Job Description
This position is part of the development team that will be researching
a prototype core for the HPC/Exascale space as part of a research contract with
Intel Federal. The team is responsible for development and documentation of a
new core architecture, development and analysis of representative workloads,
development of simulation infrastructure, performance projections and the
evaluation of design alternatives that meet the contract requirements.
Responsibilities:
The responsibility includes participation and support in the
development of next generation HPC core architecture on the next state of the
art Intel technologies. The candidate will be responsible for both front-end
tasks and own micro-architecture and RTL development, RTL integration and
Validation. The candidate will also assist in top level RTL integration and
full chip validation.
In this position, your
responsibilities will include the following
Working closely with the Arch team and micro-architects understanding
and analyzing the specifications.
Work closely with micro-architects and the design team in the
development of RTL for and functional verification. Will interact with the
design team in the areas of energy-efficient low power circuits and logic
design, design synthesis, methodology development, validation and performance
verification to ensure that logic and circuit design capabilities meet the
design specifications.
Participating in the planning and execution of prototypes/design
projects into distinct phases, implementing the prototype(s) from start to
finish- RTL and functional verification.
Assist in one or more IP blocks to support HPC top level integration
including understanding of IP level interfaces, clocks, resets and power
management. Implementation of DFT functionality as required per specifications.
Work closely with the Arch team and develop RTL models and logic
blocks to simulate functionality and assist in validating Power/Performance
specifications.
Support synthesis methodology models in order to estimate power and
timing constraints at IP, partition and full chip level
Develop sound solutions to problems utilizing formal education,
experience and sound judgments.

Component Design Engineers are responsible for the design and
development of electronic components. Responsibilities may include: the design
of chip layout circuit design, circuit checking, device evaluation and
characterization, documentation of specifications, prototype construction and
checkout, modification and evaluation of semiconductor devices and components,
performing developmental and/or test work, reviewing product requirements and
logic diagrams, planning and organizing design projects or phases of design
projects. Responds to customer/client requests or events as they occur.
Develops solutions to problems utilizing formal education and judgement.
Desired Profile
Qualifications
MS/BS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent
2+ years of experience in VLSI or ASIC design and have a solid
understanding of Intel front-end design flow and validation tool flows.
2+ years of experience in design implementation with hands on
experience in RTL development, Test benches and validation methodologies.
Additional Preferred
Qualifications
System Verilog or other RTL knowledge is a must
Hands-on experience in simulators, suite development and validation
methodologies
Fair understanding of circuits/physical design challenges required for
multimillion gate, SPICE*, high performance and ultra-low power IC designs.
Sound knowledge of VLSI ASIC/IC design flows and programming
proficiency in PERL & TCL.
Technical understanding of industry-standard IC CAD tools like
Synopsys DC, ICC, Design and Timing verification.
Excellent problem-solving capabilities and debug skills along with
customer skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Must be a self-starter with good initiative to seek and explore
multiple alternatives

Good understanding of physical design challenges required for highly
integrated, high performance and ultra-low power IC designs
Good understanding of database issues for large, multi-site design
projects
Hands-on experience with the silicon development cycle (preferably 22nm
and beyond technology nodes)

informed risk taking skills. The candidate will be expected to work under
minimal supervision and maximum flexibility to meet project deadlines.
